Ageing Better

Ageing Better

Ageing Better in Camden is a partnership of older people and agencies in Camden working closely together to tackle the social isolation and loneliness that many older people in the Borough experience.
Ageing Better in Camden works in partnership with Henna to reach out to Camden’s diverse communities including those most vulnerable and marginalised.

Henna’s Art, Freedom and Creativity project allows older women, at risk of or already experiencing social isolation, to become more involved in their communities, and provides a platform for them to support each other.

It allows members from diverse backgrounds to participate and engage in their design and delivery of artwork.

The programme at Henna includes weekly workshops on gardening, singing, create writing, painting, exercise, cooking, I.T. sessions, crochet, memory stitching.

There are also opportunities to participate in a variety of outings such as to art galleries, parks, the theatres, the zoo, the British Museum, the Sky Gardens, the Tower of London, and many more.

This project successfully brings together communities from diverse backgrounds and creates community cohesion.

“Since I lost my husband and all my friends, I felt so lonely, but Henna gave me a family from all different backgrounds, something I never experienced before.”
